Message Excerpt

Courage is an inevitable trait expected of, and is expressed by the one who sojourns or traverses the earth. The bible is replete with passages instructive on courage; some of which God himself exhorted the children of Israel on. Lack of courage gives room and paves the way for fear, worry and anxiety. Worry is figurative of an interest paid on a loan not obtained. Fear and unbelief puts your troubles and challenges between you and God. it obscures your view of God. Your perception and estimation of the trouble must never surpass your view of God. Faith employed, puts us in tandem with God. It comes in between, to pull us closer to God. Never limit God by the expression of fear. Many are in the bondage of the fear of looming troubles, certain disasters, perceived intending failures, probable death and destruction and so on; the fear of all these, truncates God’s promise. Courage is the pedestal upon which a believer rides along and scales through the vicissitudes of life. However understandable, logically reasonable and justifiable your fears are, they are still in aversion to God’s purpose. The only thing that can incapacitate God about your life is your fear. Your fear is unbelief in full expression. Hence, He refrains from getting involved. Fear neutralizes faith, faith most definitely expels fear. Pressures will always abound. However, the believer’s anchor is the victory Christ had over the world and has bequeathed to us (John 16:33). Contrary circumstances and happenings can naturally evoke fear. However, a quick reassurance and trust in God keeps it at bay. God will never impose anything on you, even things good. He has created you a free moral agent to make choices. The psalmist chose to seek the Lord; only then did God intervene (Psalm 34:4). Choose to always immediately defer to God in the face of opposing circumstances. The remedy and preventive step to avoiding the negative results of fear is to rejoice in exceeding Joy (Habakkuk 3:14, 1 Thessalonians 5:18). Sometimes, God will not calm the storm, He has entrusted His authority to you. Utilizing it keeps you victorious continually. Often times, God in His wisdom wouldn’t calm the storm but calm you in the storm, causing you to grow and measure up into fullness and maturity.
